invisaWear COPPA Compliance

What is COPPA?

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), is a law that ensures parents may retain control over their children’s online personal information. COPPA imposes certain obligations on websites or applications, such as invisaWear, who have actual knowledge that they are collecting personal information from a child under 13 years of age.

What is verifiable parental consent?

We are required by law to obtain verifiable consent from a child’s parent before we gather any personal information from the child. Because of this, we have collected your online contact information as necessary to obtain your consent and we need to verify your identity so we know you are really you.

To verify your identity, we charge the fee for the wearable safety device to a credit card. This is a common, COPPA-approved method to verify identity. The credit card transaction proves your identity. That process is handled by our verification provider Shopify, in accordance with their own Privacy Policy, meaning your credit card information will NOT be shared with invisaWear. We do not use your credit card information for any other purpose. If we are unable to obtain your verifiable parental consent within a reasonable period of time, we will delete your online contact information from our records.

What information do we collect from a child?

We require certain personal information in order to provide our services. If you consent to your child’s use of our wearable safety devices, we will collect, use, and share certain information about your child, including:
