Online Dating: How to Stay Safe
According to the Pew Research Center, an estimated 15% of American adults use online dating sites. So with safety being at the forefront of our mission, we're offering some tips on how to stay safe when utilizing those online dating apps.
Don't reveal too much personal information about yourself at first. Share your name but not your full name. You can be general about where you live, don't give your address or apartment complex name when first meeting. Also, you may be a barista but don't give out the name and location of the coffee shop that you work at. Keep the conversation light and don't share any personal info.
When meeting, ensure it's in a public place. When making plans to meet, ensure you meet somewhere that is public and always tell a friend the time and place you are meeting your date so they can check in on you and ensure you're safe.
Drive yourself. Don't let your date pick you up from anywhere...drive yourself to the meeting location and drive yourself home, or take public transportation. Never get into a car with someone you're meeting for the first time.
Don't drink too much. When meeting up with someone don't drink too much - keep it to a one to two drink maximum. When you're feeling tipsy (or drunk) you'll be more inclined to make careless decisions.
Make sure to take your invisaWear along. With safety being just a double press away with your invisaWear, you'll be able to feel peace of mind and confident when meeting up with someone for the first time.
